Program for MDs, DOs and life-science PhDs
Learn to think like an investor. Keep thinking like a physician.
Translate clinical judgment into investment insight. Start with paid expert consulting, build an edge for biotech industry roles, and lay the groundwork for an investment career.
Three outcomes, in the order they arrive
Expert consulting income
AlphaDoc profile live in week 1. Your license is the credential investors pay for.
Edge in biotech industry roles
Medical affairs and clinical development, with the commercial fluency most MDs lack. 3–12 months.
Pathway to investment roles
Equity research, then buy-side. Realistically 2–5 years, with experience.
Where your MD actually counts
Most finance jobs don't require an MD. These three reward one.
We built the program around roles where clinical credentials are required or clearly valued, and we're explicit about timelines.
Primary · week 1+
Expert network consulting
Hourly calls with funds on trials, practice patterns and competitors. MD license required; no finance experience needed.
Secondary · 3–12 months
Biotech & pharma industry
MSL, medical director and clinical development roles where the MD is required and investor fluency sets you apart.
Tertiary · 2–5 years
Investment roles
Sell-side equity research first, then buy-side. The MD is an edge, not a ticket; you still need modeling and a track record.
Entry route: equity research associate

Straight answers
Will this get me a hedge fund job?
Not directly. Most buy-side seats expect 2–5 years of research or banking experience. We prepare you for the usual route: equity research first, with consulting income and a documented track record alongside.
Do I need to leave clinical practice?
No. The program runs at 10–15 hours a week, and many graduates keep practicing while consulting. Only the investment track eventually requires a full-time move.
I have no finance background. Is that a problem?
No. Phase 2 starts from how markets work and how to read a 10-K. You learn enough finance to hold your own with investors, not to replace their analysts.
What about compliance and conflicts of interest?
Week 1 covers material non-public information, hospital outside-activity policies and disclosure. AlphaDoc requires license verification, an NDA and conflict disclosures before your first call.
Who can apply?
MDs, DOs, PharmDs and life-science PhDs with 2+ years of clinical or research experience. An active license is needed for AlphaDoc consulting.
